Undying Crusade is a Raid Event scheduled to start on July 1, 2023 at (8:00 PM (PST/PDT) and end on July 7, 2023 at 8:00 PM (PST/PDT). It is the one hundred seventy fifth episode of the Dark Stigma story and eighty eighth in the Malice Canon storyline.
Half-time Reward Calculation Period is at July 3, 2023 from 8:00 PM to 8:59 PM (PST/PDT).

Prologue[]
Late at night under the weathered roof of a tavern, the aged owner placed a bowl before his sudden customer. They had appeared at the wooden door, completely shrouded in a cloak, so he led them to a table closest to the hearth.
"Here, drink it while it's hot. It might not look like much, but I daresay you won't find any better soup in all Ralindia." A few bits of pork and potato chunks floated in the thin liquid, but the superb mixture of salt and herbs delighted countless travelers over the years. However, the hooded one neither spoke nor moved to pick up the spoon.
This humble establishment usually bustled with people heading for the next country, but the present curfew meant no one could leave. As a result, the owner's attention was fixated on the silent visitor by default. They showed no intention of removing the robe, only looking straight ahead as if staring at the steam from the soup.
Such odd behavior did not make the owner feel unease, but pity. He assumed they were exhausted both by the long journey to Ralindia and finding a place to rest after arriving. The other residents were likely too wary to open their doors. His would have also remained shut, but he spied a single lock of blonde hair from under the hood. It reminded him of the daughter he recently married away. Perhaps it was a young woman facing an unusual crisis, and the least kindness he could give was lodging for the evening.
"There are no people anywhere." The customer finally spoke in a stiff but feminine voice. Relieved, the owner explained the situation.
"Right, there's a royal curfew in place, and for a rather odd reason. It might be before your time, but have you heard of the Nabram church? My parents told me about them when I was a lad." The old man spoke freely from his boyhood memories. Of the many natural faiths that originated in ancient Ralindia, the western people worshipped Nabram, praying to the lightning god alone for peace and prosperity. The passing years saw them organize, build temples, and become one of the most influential powers in the country.
However, this changed when a thunderstorm's bolt struck the main tower of the royal castle and ignited a massive blaze. The king regarded this as Nabram punishing his believers for some hidden wrongdoing, so he immediately stripped them of all privilege and encouraged their persecution.
"To this day, no one knows if the storm was truly punishment or not, but the church had lost their reputation overnight." Despite the decline in followers, the clergy were determined to uphold their faith by any means necessary... even if it bordered on madness.
"They gathered as much gold and steel as they could, then combined them with animal bones, lightning, and prayer to make what they called 'Crusadicons' to fight back. But they were so vicious, it was hard to believe holy power created them. If you ask me, black magic was more likely." Indeed, the metallic soldiers were shockingly effective. They had been taught cleansing the filth of the world from mankind's souls was only possible through death. With this tenet engraved into their being, they moved soundlessly in shining silver armor, slaying victims before they were aware of danger.
"Well, the royal army still had the advantage when it came to numbers, and both the Nabrams and their toys were wiped out. Ahh, that takes me back. Used to be adults warned naughty kids the Crusadicons would come for them if they didn't behave, haha." The old man gave a wistful smile as he recalled his long departed mother. He also told his own daughter similarly when she was a child.
"Whoops, sorry. I was talking about the curfew. A few days ago, someone found a ruined temple with one of those machines tucked away underground. Before anyone could figure out what to do, it up and vanished this morning." It was unclear if the lost Crusadicon was stolen or revived itself. Many experts doubted it was still in working order, but the king, reluctant to expose the public to such a threat, enacted an immediate curfew. Several hunting parties had also been dispatched to find it.
The aged owner turned back to his silent but attentive customer. "But one thing I never quite understood: why would anything built to serve a god go around killing people?"
That innocent query rang oddly loud in the quiet dining room. The next moment, he fell silent. In fact, he never said another word.
And his question would never have its answer.
......
The soup reddened from blood. A wrinkled body lay motionless across the floor. The silent visitor removed her hood. She was Maquinael, the missing Crusadicon. Relishing in the fulfillment of her first task, she gazed at her dripping blade.
"I offer thee praise, my god. With thine blessing, I have bestowed salvation to this pitiful soul who subsisted on meager soup."
Epilogue[]
Wavy golden locks, charged with electricity, fanned out like a lion's mane, granting the dignity of a divine emissary. Smooth skin concealed a complex network of steel and tubes, allowing for flexible movement and swift attacks with which to bestow deadly grace. These and other parts comprised Maquinael the Crusadicon, now motionless upon the floor.
Internal diagnostics scanned them one by one and assessed that damage had yet to reach critical levels. She attempted to restore power and continue with her given mission, but, for whatever reason, the initialization sequence ended in vain. She still could not move so much as a finger. Her logic, just as her body, was formed countless years ago. Although operable, it was possible flaws emerged with age.
Overall functionality had been greatly disabled in combat with a fierce individual known as the Hero. Her sideways head could only take in sight, not react to it. Lidless eyes continually beheld the victor as she recalculated the situation.
Since awakening, never once did Maquinael question why or how she was built. She understood her service in the name of an undying, everlasting god, saving humans from the filth of the world through death. However, she was now too weak to do so, and that cruel truth further sapped her strength.
"I'm sorry...that I couldn't save you." The Hero slightly frowned in response to the apology from her stiffened lips. With each repetition, a burning emotion ignited within her. She gave an intense, urgent prayer, as if she had been created for this exact moment.
"Nabram, master of lightning, I beseech thee forgive my shortcomings and grant me another chance. Let me be reborn in any form thou seeth fit to give this human before me the salvation they deserve..." As she recited it once more, her field of vision finally dimmed. Next, all sound was silenced, her thoughts stopped, and then her very awareness dissipated. The mass of gold, steel, and bone would never stir again. No one knew whether or not her final request was granted.
