The Shub-N'gurath priest commenced with the ritual amidst the rising green smoke. He needed a vast supply of blood to give as an offering. Blood, blood, and more blood... enough to form a river, or even a lake. He wanted even more blood to put in the already crimson-stained altar. It would be the most gruesome ritual to date... and yet the meaning behind the ritual was quite insignificant. "May my future be blessed..." It was a universal prayer that humans often said to the gods, and the Shub-N'gurath priest was trying to realize this desire by conducting his blood ritual.

Shub-Niggurath, often associated with the phrase “The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young”, is a deity in the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft. The only other name by which H. P. Lovecraft referred to her was "Lord of the Wood" in his story "The Whisperer in Darkness.
