Shalana, Elf of Night

Seven sages along with their envoys descended from the heavens when Neotellus was created. Out of that group which later came to be known to as "elves", Shalana's innate wisdom meant she surpassede the others in her mastery of magic. A great pride welled up within her as she took command of a large number of followers earned through her tremendous abilities. She held the gods in reverence, but she had decided to live out her days on the surface.

Name OriginEdit

Shalana is a modern feminine name of American origin, considered fashionable. Combination of the prefix Sha- ("attractive") with Lana. Lana as a variant of Alana (Old German) has the meaning "fair, good-looking; precious"; or Helen (Greek) "sun ray; shining, bright"; or (Hawaiian) "afloat; calm as still waters". English Alana is of Irish, Gaelic origin; the meaning is "little rock; harmony, peace". It is derived from ailin meaning "little rock" (al "rock") or alun "harmony, peace".

An elf (plural: elves) is a type of supernatural being in Germanic mythology and folklore. Reconstructing the early concept of an elf depends almost entirely on texts in Old English or relating to Norse mythology. Later evidence for elves appears in diverse sources such as medical texts, prayers, ballads, and folktales.
