The Seafloor Tree's fruit glistened like pearls, but only the priestess Chelise was allowed to pluck them. As a descendant of the merfolk, she could breathe underwater. This allowed her to perform her duties of tending to the tree and offering the ripened fruit to the gods when pleading for them to avert an approaching storm.
