In ages past, when the Iðunn tree did not yet exist, a number of trials were conducted in order to create "golden apples" that could be consumed by the gods to augment their powers. Those angels unfortunate enough to be used as test subjects in these experiments were transfigured into horrific monstrosities. The gods scorned these defiled beings and cast them out of the Heavens like trash. Sandra was one of them, and the trauma from her experience still lingered fresh in her mind.
