Murderous Prophecy is a Raid Event scheduled to start on July 1, 2022 at 8:00 PM (PST/PDT) and end on July 7, 2022 at 8:00 PM (PST/PDT). It is the one hundred fifty first episode of the Dark Stigma story and seventy sixth in the Malice Canon storyline.

Half-time Reward Calculation Period is at July 3, 2022 from 8:00 PM to 8:59 PM (PST).

Prologue

King Geordate ruled over the western nation of Zarad without mercy, but not without cause. As the youngest of his numerous brothers born from the royal concubine, his prospect of ascending the throne was nearly nonexistent. However, he ended up doing so before he reached maturity after a plague took all of their lives as well as the former king's.

What would seem to be incredible luck was actually the opposite, since he had no time to garner political support. As a result, he faced numerous assassination attempts involving poison, curses, or steel. It took only seven before he became wary of everyone around him, earning the epithet of "The Paranoid King."

His sole confidant was an aged magician with astonishing powers of prognostication. Had even one of his predictions been inaccurate, it might have hastened the end of Geordate's reign. Unfortunately, his perfect record lent the king enough reason to abuse his authority under the guise of justice. 

On one occasion, the prophet declared a thief who stole from the castle could be found living under a tailor's roof. This prompted the king to immediately execute every tailor in the land and destroy their shops. However, the true culprit was a royal chef renting a room at a tailor's house, guilty of taking a silver spoon. Geordate's excessive action caused the loss of hundreds of lives over a single spoon. This was the cruel reality of life in Zarad.

The kingdom's neighbors were perpetually nervous as well. They told their citizens not to approach the borders and sent spies to observe Geordate's behavior. When the king ordered all of the country's soldiers to gather in the capital, the other rulers believed this was the result of a prophecy claiming a nearby power would invade Zarad. The surrounding countries formed a secret alliance in response, both lessening that likelihood and strengthening bonds in case of a preemptive assault. However, the following month saw no further military movement.

Unable to bear the tension, the alliance asked you to infiltrate and investigate Zarad. Indeed, you only found armed forces in the capital, mostly positioned near the castle. They had not been mobilized to attack but to defend, and the reason for this was the prophet's murder at the hands of Geordate's own daughter. This came as a surprise since the only offspring known to the public were two princes who were as leery as their father. The circumstances that demanded her confinement were yet a mystery but apparently warranted the king mustering his whole army.

It seemed the fastest way to understand the situation was to meet this lost princess, reportedly named Kirdemitt. Keeping a low profile, you followed her trail...

Epilogue

You pursued Kirdemitt, the prophet's murderer. She disappeared after the deed, prompting King Geordate to disperse soldiers throughout the capital. In her state of heightened alert, she mistook you for those soldiers and retaliated. Even so, you did not give up, as you were aware of the prediction that claimed she would kill her father.

Her privileges as first-born child and rightful heir to the crown stripped away as a result, it was easy to imagine the anger she felt towards not only against the prophet but her father. That rage empowered her, and you felt it in every blow. That she had become skilled enough to thwart the royal soldiers despite her cramped tower confines spoke volumes.

The Skeptical King's efforts in warding off the prophecy ironically made it more imminent. It was because he tried so hard to forget her that she became determined to kill him. Or perhaps, he had never forgotten. After all of those assassination attempts, Geordate was afraid he could die at any moment. Fear then motivated him to act. That, in addition with with his love for her as his own flesh and blood, was likely why he chose not to kill her after her birth.

The king knew this day would come, and he would use it to his full advantage. In defeating his daughter and proving the words of the once-infallible prophet false, he could claim to overcome fate itself. That was why he took such drastic measures. If Kirdemitt infiltrated the castle, the worst would come to pass. Determination alone could not let her prevail against an entire army. Her death would only stoke his ego, posing a true threat to the countries neighboring Zarad.

You knew what you needed to do in order to save the country. During each clash with Kirdemitt, you attempted to convey that to her. At last, she lowered her blade.

"You truly aren't soldiers, are you? Then why are you trying to stop me? ...You say Zarad's neighbors have formed an alliance? They intend to fight back against Father?"

After a moment of thought, she sheathed her weapon. "Tell me more."

She was able to put her intense hatred aside for the sake of her country. This told you she possessed the wisdom and dignity of a true leader. After giving a sigh of relief, you explained everything you knew.

Within the following month, King Geordate of Zarad fell. The tyrant was defeated with the cooperation of the neighboring countries and the hidden princess, Kirdemitt. Her dazzling coronation ceremony would be remembered for all of history.

The new Queen Kirdemitt of Zarad wore the crown with poise and serenity. And granted the honor of placing it upon her head was none other than a wandering warrior known as the Hero.
