Marcetta the Advocate

Lore[]

Even if spared the guillotine, those judged as criminals faced much difficulty returning to society. Unable to turn to anyone for aid, many found themselves locked behind bars once again. Yet the ex-convict Marcetta saw opportunity. She arranged suitable work for her kind in exchange for a minor portion of the wages. This not only earned her great wealth, but deep respect from the reformed, as she saved them from the vicious circle of crime.

Name Origin[]

Marcetta can be a spelling variant of feminine name Margaret. Derived via French Marguerite and Latin Margarita from Greek Margarites, derived from the noun margaron meaning "pearl". Other variants are Marcheta, Finnish Marketta, Spanish Marquetta, Scandinavian Margita, Czech and Slovak Marketa and etc.

Altruism or selflessness is the principle or practice of concern for the welfare of others, the opposite of selfishness. It is a traditional virtue in many cultures and a core aspect of various religious traditions and secular worldviews, though the concept of "others" toward whom concern should be directed can vary among cultures and religions. The word was coined in French as altruisme, for an antonym of egoism. He derived it from an Italian altrui, which in turn was derived from Latin alteri, meaning "other people" or "somebody else".
