This guide is dedicated to helping players properly understand how many of the game's special evolutions work at a conceptual level, and the steps necessary to properly execute these evolutions in practice.

Background info[]

As you progress through the game, you will undoubtedly run across various cards which don't fit the normal process for evolutions (ones that fit the scheme A + A = B). Many cards in the game have a branching evolution, with many intermediary steps necessary before the final form is achieved.

While there is some variability in the steps required to evolve these cards, many of them follow a very specific pattern which doesn't deviate much from one evolution tree to another. The following illustrates the general pattern found through many of these evolutions.

First stage[]

The first cards in any multi-evolution tree usually consists of a so called "container" card, and an evolver card. Often times, these two cards are released and given to all players prior to the introduction of a new card pack (usually just before a Raid Event takes place). Additionally, there will also be a special "token" card available only in the card pack released after the introduction of the container and evolver card, or through Trade with other players.

The container card, like its namesake suggests, acts as a container meant to house the token cards. Each token card can be added to the container card through a normal evolution process, with container cards usually allowing up to three token cards to be added. For every token card added to a container card, the resulting container and its final evolution gains a boost to power level and final evolution stats.

The role of the evolver card is to simply act as an evolution pairing to the container card, allowing the card to progress to their next stage in their evolution tree. It is important to note that unlike the container and token cards, the evolver card can and should be enhanced in order to allow the final card in the evolution tree to reach its maximum potential.

Once a container card has been evolved with its evolver card equivalent, no more token cards may be added to the container. Often times, the game prohibits evolving containers with their evolver cards unless at least one toke card has been added to the container (see below for exceptions).

Second stage[]

Once the container and evolver cards have been evolved together (with or without token cards), the second stage in the evolution tree will be reached. The exact card received at this second stage varies, depending on how many token cards were added to the container in the first stage. Often, there are three possible second stage cards (one for each token added).

At this stage, players will usually be given three special "elemental" cards: the Menacing Fire Crest, Arcane Water Crest, and Transcendental Forest Crest. Players are allowed to evolve the second stage card with one of these elemental cards, with the element chosen determining the second stage card's final evolution. Since there are three elements, there will be three possible evolutions stemming from the second stage.

It is important to note that while the elemental cards cannot be enhanced, the second stage card can and should be enhanced in order for the final evolution to reach its maximum potential.

Third and final stage[]

At this stage, the final evolution will have been reached and if all necessary cards have been enhanced fully prior to this stage, the card will have reached its maximum potential. However, it should be noted that not all final evolutions will be comparable in stats.

For any given element there will be three possible evolutions, one for each possible second stage card in the evolution tree, with each final evolution differing in their power level and consequently, their final stats. Again, this disparity is a consequence of the number of token cards added to the container card in stage one. Suffice it to say, the more token cards added to the container card, the more powerful the final evolution will be.

To summarize, in order to obtain the strongest final evolution card possible in the tree, players should ensure that the container card has been equipped with three token cards.

Specific evolution trees[]

In this section, specific evolution trees will be outlined and explained in a step-by-step fashion.

General rules[]

No matter which evolution tree being worked with, it is important to always fully enhance all necessary cards (ones that can be enhanced) in the tree in order to obtain a Perfect Max final evolution.

Another important, though not mandatory rule, is to ensure that the container card has been evolved with three token cards before being evolved with its evolver card, in order to ensure that the final evolution reaches its maximum power rating and subsequently its maximum stats. This rule however, is subject to an individual player's ability to obtain three token cards, which isn't always possible nor necessary to obtain a respectable final evolution.

An important thing to keep in mind is that once a container card has been evolved with its evolver card, no more token cards may be added to the container. As a result, the number of possible evolutions will be fixed and permanent. Therefore, tread lightly!

Alice in Cryptidland[]

First stage

  • Being the first special evolution card released, the evolution process for this card is quite complex. You are required to evolve Desolate Tea Party with up to three "character cards" in the form of Alice Portrait, White Rabbit Portrait, and Queen of Hearts Portrait. The order in which you choose to evolve them will yield different stage two cards, but ultimately evolving with all three character cards will yield the same final form. Alternatively, you can evolve using three of the same character cards.

There are three possible state one cards:

Second stage Cards gained in the second stage can be arrived at in different orders of evolving, but the forms listed are basically what's obtained from a combination of two character cards.

  • Three possible evolutions for (Tea) The Red Queen in Repose:

Third stage

  • Three evolutions for (Tea) The Queen in Elegant Repose
  • Final evolution for (Tea) Opening Up To Rabbit, (Tea) The Queen's Modest Concern, and (Tea) Regal Monarch & Subject

For this card pack, the process of evolving special evolutions was made simpler. All that is required is to evolve the three special evolution parts together one at a time like so:

  • Evolve Retaliating Brynhildr with another Retaliating Brynhildr to get (Helheim) Retailating Brynhildr
  • Evolve (Helheim) Retaliating Brynhildr with another Retaliating Brynhildr to get the final form, (Valhalla) Retailating Brynhildr
