Goffredo REG

Lore[]

Goffredo stroked the hide of his enormous mount and he probed for an answer to his conundrum. Chalon was a fair ruler loved by the people, yet his actions appeared to be that of a traitor. What would drive a man who professed to uphold justice to such ends? Was his betrayal merely and extension of his virtues? Yet Goffredo soon cleared the quandaries from his mind. His role was not to judge, but to execute those judged by his superiors. A mechanical soldier such as himself was not designed for free will.

Name origin[]

Goffredo is an Italian variant transcription of an English and French masculine name Geoffrey (modern Jeffrey) or English and German Godfrey. Geoffrey was a Norman French name: the second element is Germanic frid "peace", but the first element may be either gawia "territory", walha "foreign" or gisil "hostage"; it is possible that two or more names merged into a single form. Godfrey derived from the Germanic name Godafrid, which meant "peace of god" from the Germanic elements god "god" and frid "peace". The Normans introduced both names to England where it became common among the nobility during the Middle Ages.
