Lore[]
The butterflies, shining purple in the evening light, are born of Filiana's body, and they enthrall and attract both men and women. But Filiana must make sure those who become fascinated by their light never forget that they are essentially her eyes. As if a part of her, any who attempt to defile the butterflies will receive vindication from her own hand. Learning their lesson, people have come to regard the fragile creatures as sacred and forbidden to touch.

Name origin[]
Filiana is probably a variant of Filia. Filia (Philia) is a feminine name of Old Greek origin; the meaning is "friendship; amity, companionship". In addition, Filia is a variant form of the English, German, and Italian Ophelia, derived either from the Greek ophelos "help, profit" or ophis "snake, serpent".
