Lore[]
Aspiring assassin's such as Leander generally experienced cruel upbringings. Stricken by a rare disease, no doctor was able to cure him and his parents were of little support. Abandoned by those he believed in, the only one who offered aid was the assassin known as "the Great Matron". Her kindness despite being a trained killer broke down his old values, and now he hoped to follow in her footsteps if it would save another suffering soul.

Name origin[]
Leander is a masculine name of Greek origin; the meaning is "lion man, strong brave man, man of people". Derived from the Greek Leandros which means "lion of a man" , the two-element name formed from Greek leon "lion" and andros "of a man". Feminine form is Leandra.
In Greek legend Hero and Leander, Leander, a young man from Abydos on the opposite side of the strait, was the lover of Hero, a priestess of Aphrodite (the goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation) who dwelt in a tower in Sestos on the European side of the Hellespont (today's Dardanelles). Every night he swam across the Hellespont to meet her, Hero would light a lamp at the top of her tower to guide his way. These trysts lasted through the warm summer. But one stormy winter night, the waves tossed Leander in the sea and the breezes blew out Hero's light; Leander lost his way and was drowned. When Hero saw his dead body she threw herself over the edge of the tower into the waters and perished.
