When Carla was an orphan, she was raised by a troupe of musicians. They were very kind, but they were merciless slaughtered by a band of pirates. Seeing Carla's beauty, they decided to leave her alive and sell her as a slave. Just then, the pirate Mary came upon them like a whirlwind and rescued her. Knowing Carla had nowhere else to go, Mary convinced her crew to let Carla join them. Carla saw Mary as an angel sent from the gods.
