Name origin

Cervidae is a Latin family name term for deer, derived from Latin cervus "deer" plus suffix -idae which forms names of families of animals, from Ancient Greek eîdos "appearance".

In Greek mythology, Sinon (Greek: from the verb sinomai "to harm, to hurt") a son of Aesimus (son of Autolycus), or of the crafty Sisyphus, was a Greek warrior during the Trojan War. He pretended to have deserted the Greeks and, as a Trojan captive, convinced the Trojans to pull the the giant wooden horse, there were Greek soldiers, inside the city walls, thus sealing the fate of Troy.
