Perhaps Carroe let her take ahold of his heart simply because he knew not what it was to fall in love. Half-aware of his motivation, when he saw the tanned demon lying injured on the ground, he still felt he had no choice but bring her back to his home. That he would be persecuted for his actions little crossed his mind. It would have been his end, too, had "The Great Matron's" assassins not saved them from the resulting hunt.
