Machefus conscripted all he killed into his shambling, odiferous army, conscious of his desecration. The notion that any would ally with him, or even stand neutral, was preposterous, meaning all of humankind was able to make peace with each other and unite against a common foe. The reality that Machefus was a necessary evil to bring about harmony did not escape his notice, and so he continued in his heinous actions.
