In a lyrical voice, she said, "Listen, birds, I've been reading the books hidden in the attic in secret, and I found a wonderful love story. I never thought the land below could be so wonderful." As her expectations swelled, her reality changed. It would not be long before she would cut her hair and use it to escape.

Rapunzel is a fairy tale, published by the Brothers Grimm in the first edition of their collection Grimms' Fairy Tales in 1812. The story is an adaptation of older tales of "The Maiden in The Tower".
