(Shifting) Olesya, Enchanted Carver

LoreEdit

Olesya held the utmost compassion for her translucent beasts whose lives lasted but a single season. She would stroke their chins and take them to frozen expanses when they wished to run. When they hungered, they could feast upon the ice. For no matter how long they hoped to live, the ice-beasts would assuredly melt along with the warmth of spring. That was exactly why Olesya strove to grant their every wish: So that they would desire to return the next winter.

Name originEdit

Olesya, may also be spelt Olessia or Alesya (Russian: Олеся, Алеся), is a Slavic feminine name of three possible origins. It can be a variant of Slavic name Lesana (Lesya) "forest maiden", derived from the root лес with the meaning "forest". Also can be a variant of Alexandra "defending men", from Greek αλεξω (alexo) "to defend, help" and ανηρ (aner) "man" (genitive ανδρος). Or else a diminutive form of Slavic Olga, a variant of English, German, and Scandinavian Helga of Old Norse origin; derived from heilagr meaning "holy, blessed; successful, prosperous".
