The angel Iblis was shocked and appalled by the gods' new proposal. That they would not only create a new being called 'man' but also force her kind to protect them was utterly unacceptable. She was sealed underground for her insubordination only to emerge thousands of years later seething for revenge. Now filled with demonic might, she swore to massacre the gods' beloved toys.

Iblīs is a figure frequently occurring in the Quran. Due to his fall from God's grace, he is often compared to Satan in Christian traditions, but holds a more ambivalent role in Islamic traditions.
