(Helheim) Retaliating Brynhildr

Brynhildr now dwelled in the depths of the Neverworld. Though her strength her subsided, her spirited obstinance had not waned in the godless plane. She continued to gaze towards the distant Heavens firmly believing she would one day return to her rightful place.

Name originEdit

Brynhildr (also spelled Brunhild, Brünnhilde, Brynhild) is a shieldmaiden and a valkyrie in Germanic mythology. The history of Brynhildr includes fratricide, a long battle between brothers, and dealings with the Huns. In the Poetic Edda Brynhildr trips to Helheim (or Hel) after her death.

Helheim (from Old Norse heimr, heima "abode", "region", "world", Hel's domain) or Helvíti (from Old Icelandic víti "fine", "sconce", "penalty", Hel's place of punishment) is one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology. Helheim is the most general name for the underworld where the dead dwell. Also known as "Hel", the same name as its ruler Hel (Old Norse Hel "Hidden") - a giantess and goddess.
