Ermes trampled over the humans, then trampled again over their corpses, yet still there was no end to her sadness. As the torrent of powerful, ancient magic filled her, so too did the fiends begin to gather. It was the new queen's coronation. "The humans... must pay for what they've done!" said the queen to her rapturous subjects, for she had determined that mankind must be exterminated from this world. It was so that nothing like that which had happened to her surrogate father would ever happen again, so that at least his revenge would be complete.

Ermes is an Italian masculine name of Old Greek origin; a variant of English, German, Greek, and Italian name Hermes. The meaning is "messenger", but literally herma translates as "cairn, pile of stones". A herma, commonly in English "herm", is a sculpture with a head, and perhaps a torso, above a plain, usually squared lower section. The form originated in Ancient Greece, and was adopted by the Romans, and revived at the Renaissance in the form of term figures and Atlantes.
In Greek mythology and religion, Hermes is an Olympian god, son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia. He was a messenger for the gods on Olympus and was himself the god of eloquence, transitions and boundaries. He is quick and cunning, and moved freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine, as emissary and messenger of the gods, intercessor between mortals and the divine, and conductor of souls into the afterlife. He is protector and patron of travelers, herdsmen, thieves, orators and wit, literature and poets, athletics and sports, invention and trade.
