In the Golden Valley slept the Ring of Dominance. It was an artifact forged by the gods that would grant insurmountable power to any who wore it. It would mean the end of the world should it fall into the hands of evil, and even one with a righteous heart would be tainted by the temptation to wield it. For this reason, the dragon goddess Fafnir ensured none would obtain it.

Fafnir is a son of a dwarf king in Norse mythology. After being affected by a curse, Fafnir became a dragon.
