Li-Meng often bought meat and fruit for the other Pandi villagers, yet their diet consisted largely of bamboo leaves. They loved the fresh flavor imbued with a subtle sweetness, although chewing through the tough fibers was somewhat difficult. Her fondest memories were those of feasting upon the verdant stalks with the adorable panda cubs indigenous to the region.

In Medieval bestiaries and Greco-Roman geographic works the Pandi were a race of giant-eared people with eight fingers and toes and white hair that turned black with age.
