Lore[]

Locked in a dire situation, Elmenhilde finally questioned the wisdom in her creed. She had stolen a sacred relic to further her foolish inquisitiveness, and consequently found herself surrounded by the temple's Paladins. In a desperate attempt to fight back, she brandished her staff imbued with the odd enchantments she had learned thus far. Against her expectations, the assailants immediately fell over, unconscious. Perhaps the hours she had spent conjuring useless spells for curiosity's sake had not been so useless after all.

Name origin[]

Elmenhilde is probably a blend of two feminine names Elmena and Hilde. Elmena is a variant of Elmina of Old German origin, meaning "determined protector", derived from helm with the meanings "helmet, protection"; diminutive of Dutch, English, German, and Polish name Wilhelmina. Hilde is a German and Dutch variant of Hilda, has the meaning "ready for battle; battle woman; battle stronghold"; derived from Old German hild "battle".

There is a character named Elmenhilde Tepes, also known as Valerie, in the manga "Fairy Tail". She is a vampire and a wandering mage who travels the world in order to fulfill several duties that are only known to her; she has horns, tail and carries a spear.
