Whoever held the Crimson and the Azure Duosabers would be granted immense power. However, they would then be tasked to use that power to fulfill the enchanted swords' desire for destruction and death by killing a hundred warriors each day. Segnos, with his sadistic nature, had little qualms about the demand. With one stroke, he split an entire mountain, and with another, he turned the land into a lake of fire.

In Greek mythology, a miasma (ancient Greek "pollution") is a contagious power that has an independent life of its own. Until purged by the sacrificial death of the wrongdoer, society would be chronically infected by catastrophe.
