Ales scowled as he knelt in the pooled blood of his attackers, unable to comprehend why his fellow man antagonized him merely because of the ever-present ravens in his vicinity. The battle had ended in the space of a breath, yet his exhaustion meant he would be unable to fend off the approaching reinforcements. He had nearly given up all hope when an enormous raven grasped Ales in its talons and lifted him into the air.
